Around the world, activists like you are pushing back against corporations’ ISDS trade attacks on climate initiatives and other democratically-enacted public interest policies. Join us this month for exciting updates from the global fight against ISDS!

We’ll be joined by Melanie Foley of Public Citizen’s Global Trade Watch, sharing inspiring lessons from Honduras’s recent ISDS withdrawal decision and other recent wins across the globe. We’ll also hear report backs from our cross-border day of action against Ruby River’s anti-climate ISDS case and share ways that you can help the campaign to end ISDS in the coming weeks.

As a reminder, Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) is a mechanism written into many older trade and investment agreements that allows individual corporations to challenge laws, regulations, permitting decisions, and even court decisions that they view as violating their supposed trade agreement rights. These ISDS suits completely circumvent the U.S. judicial system and any other country’s judicial system and instead are heard before private tribunals empowered to award millions and even billions of dollars in taxpayer money as damages. The ISDS system is an obstacle to robust climate action and an affront to democracy.
